Citizens for Progress (CFP) is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Temple, Texas, focused on fostering sustainable community development. Our mission is to empower individuals and families by providing essential services that address socio-economic challenges. Through targeted programs in home repair, educational training, and economic development, we aim to enhance the quality of life for all residents. Sonjanette is the President of the CFP Board of Directors, and a lifelong Bell County resident. The spouse of the CFP founder, Mr. Lee Crossley, PhD, and Army Veteran, Sonjanette has devoted her life to helping others in a variety of capacities including over 50 years in social work helping some of the most vulnerable community members. Dr. Crossley is also a retired special education counselor with over 22 years serving the Temple ISD. She received a doctoral degree in clinical pastoral counseling and is a strong volunteer in dozens of groups over the years including the Temple Reinvestment Zone and Economic Development Corporation, City of Temple Building and Standards Commission, UMHB Social Work Advisory Board, NAACP and LULAC, as well as a devoted member of her church where her deceased husband served as the pastor for over 25 years. A graduate of Meredith-Dunbar High School (Class of 1968), Sonjanette has worked to ensure representation of both minority and women in the community and has helped shape Bell County into a true inclusive community that recognizes the unique diversity and history that Temple offers to its residents
Judy is the Vice President of the CFP Board of Directors, and lifelong Temple resident. Graduating from temple High School and attended Temple College. She received her Master of Education from Antioch College Southwest. Judy has served in numerous positions throughout her career including Director, Bell County Human Services, and business owner of J/R Enterprise 400+ and Steinheimer Property Management. Serving the community for over 50 years, Judy has represented minorities and underserved communities her entire life of service including Temple College Board of Trustees, Temple Transit Advisory Board, Central Texas Homeless Alliance (founding member), Bell County committee for the Disabled and the Temple Chamber of Commerce as the first Hispanic woman on the Board. Judy has helped numerous nonprofits including the American GI Forum, Family Promise Inc, United Way of Central Texas, Connecting for Youth. She currently is a member of LULAC 4971, NAACP & CARE Leadership Network. Judy has been recognized by numerous organizations for her philanthropic work and social advocacy including Who’s Who among Hispanic Americans, Social Worker of the Year by the Texas Chapter of the NASW, Women of Excellence award by the Women’s Enterprise Magazine, and Distinguished Service Award by the Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. Mrs. Morales currently serves as Temple District 2 City Councilperson since 2011 and serving as Mayor Pro Tem. Judy’s lifetime of knowledge, experience and community connections has helped to elevate CFP into a trusted and reliable partner throughout Bell County
