East Temple Enrichment Center

A Space For Growth & Empowerment

Meet the East Temple Community Enrichment Center!

Since the early days of its founding in 1999, Citizens for Progress (CFP) has been working to improve people’s lives through community projects, including support for low-income housing tax credit projects, needs assessments, community forums, and work on behalf of the homeless community. The CFP board focuses on affordable housing, homeownership education, financial readiness, and efforts to increase employment opportunities for low-income citizens.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has had a very profound impact on our community. While many other cities have experienced a health crisis, Temple has felt the effects of the pandemic through the increase in unemployed or underemployed citizens. Many people have had to learn new skills and completely change professions in order to support their families. When faced with this daunting task, many people have been frustrated and discouraged.

The East Temple Community Enrichment Center will provide an opportunity for these people to find the support and resources they need to bounce back from this tragic pandemic. The center will provide a space for one-on-one career counseling, GED program support, job readiness programs, and job training—all within walking distance of Temple’s most underserved areas.

Over the years, CFP has approached all of its projects by first looking for strategic partners who can provide the support, talent and passion needed to see success. This project is no different. The CFP Board is reaching out to organizations who share their mission to change lives and have made a direct investment of past resources to make Temple a better place.

CFP’s mission is “to empower people through innovative and creative programs and advocacy efforts that positively impact the economic, housing, educational and infrastructural issues, and needs within the community.” This mission can’t be achieved without the support and participation of community partners.

You can help by becoming a Corporate Donor! Your generosity will give hope to the hopeless and provide a path to long term success. Our fundraising goal is $300,000. We will not be successful without you!
